Helping Mothers and Children in Need

Easthampton, Massachusetts

The Bethlehem House in Easthampton, Massachusetts assists young and expectant mothers. These mothers are women who besides simply worrying about taking responsibility for a new life are also having a hard time providing for their babies. By coming to Bethlehem House, they take the necessary step to ensure that their very young children will be able to develop healthily.

But in recent days Easthampton’s Bethlehem House’s supplies have dropped to worrisome levels. Cribs with mattresses, bassinets and other items for very young children are not available to mothers who desperately need them. These women have nowhere else to turn.

The Basilica of St. Stanislaus, Bishop and Martyr in Chicopee

In nearby Chicopee, the Conventual Franciscan Friars and parishioners at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus, Bishop and Martyr have become concerned with Bethlehem House’s problems. They have issued a call to their community for items that the House requires. Persons who can offer cribs, bassinets and other necessities are to contact Bethlehem House directly.

The Christ Child with his Mother

Assisting the youngest most vulnerable members of our human family needs no explanation. Friar Michael Zielke – the pastor of St. Stanislaus – and his fellow friars, sisters, and parishioners have learned from Jesus (who entered our world as a tiny child) and St. Francis that we are all united as God’s children and must help one another no matter what.
