Lending a Helping Hand to our Brothers and Sisters

Members of the Christmas Angel Program at St. Francis Parish in Bridgeport, New York
Bridgeport, New York (near Oneida Lake) is a tiny place of less than 2000 people. Its citizens work hard and take care of their village as best they can. They also stick together when things get tight.
Of course, many people do not want to admit that they need any sort of help. A situation where a parent or spouse finds himself out of a job and unable to support his loved ones is devastating. It brings on guilt and failure. Holidays – like Christmas – only magnify these negative emotions.
Pastor of St. Francis Parish, Friar Reynald Yudin
The Christmas Angel Program at Bridgeport’s St. Francis Parish soothes at least in part the gloom felt by individuals going through rough times. During Christmas, members of the Christmas Angel Program deliver presents and food to many needy families in the area. They want to make sure that at least temporarily their fellow citizens do not have to worry about making ends meet.
During the rest of the year, St. Francis Parish runs other outreach programs. Although holidays remind us that there are people less fortunate than us out there, the fact of the matter is we need to help these people all the time so that eventually they might leave poverty behind.
