Friars Gather in Indiana and California
The delegates at the Our Lady of Consolation Province Chapter -

The Provincial Chapters of Our Lady of Consolation (OLC) Province and St. Joseph of Cupertino (SJC) Province concluded last month. Both provinces are North American jurisdictions of the Order of Friars Minor Conventual. OLC Province encompasses vast sections of the American Midwest along with Texas and New Mexico. SJC Province includes California, the Pacific Northwest and other parts of the Western United States.
Friar Jim Kent and the OLC Definitory
OLC Province’s Chapter at Mount Saint Francis in Indiana (not far from Louisville, Kentucky) finished on March 18, 2010. Friar Marco Tasca – Minister General of the Order of Friars Minor Conventual – confirmed Friar Jim Kent as that province’s Minister Provincial. During the Chapter, the province’s Definitory was also elected. Its members along with the Minister Provincial will fulfill the ministries to which they were elected for the next four years. It should be noted that the friars from Our Lady of Consolation Province elected Friar Jim Kent Minister Provincial before their Chapter.
Friar Chris Deitz addresses the Chapter
SJC Province’s Chapter concluded on March 24, 2010. The friars from this province met at the St. Clare Retreat House in Soquel, California – a small town east of Santa Cruz. Friar Marco Tasca attended this Chapter as well; he approved Friar Christopher Deitz as the re-elected Minister Provincial of St. Joseph of Cupertino Province. As was the case with OLC Province, the delegates at the SJC Provincial Chapter elected their Definitory during the Chapter in Soquel. What was different was that the SJC Chapter delegates also elected Friar Chris as their province's Minister Provincial.
