For those individuals who live their fast-paced lives in Louisville, Kentucky, personal spirituality might not be foremost on their mind. Where am I supposed to find the time to be spiritual?, they might ask themselves. Well, how about at the Mount Saint Francis Center for Spirituality on Mount St. Francis, Indiana? Located roughly 12 miles from Louisville, the center and its grounds transport the spiritually-starved to a radically different headspace. With about 400 acres of woods, a lake, and many indoor rooms for reflection, the Conventual Franciscan-run facility, radically slows down the pace of life.

Today people lead busy lives

With the destination settled, the spiritually-hungry person now needs to find the time to get away – however briefly – and meet someone at the center who can provide him or her with guidance. The 12 miles from Louisville to the Mount St. Francis Center for Spirituality should take about 20 minutes to cover by car. And on Friday, October 2 of this year at 11:45 am, Friar Bob Baxter will host the First Friday on the Mount retreat.  The spiritually-hungry person now has ample time to make arrangements for attendance.

Friar Bob’s First Friday on the Mount retreat is set to become a monthly occurrence. As the name suggests, each retreat will take place on the first Friday of every month (with the last retreat happening in June 2010).

Included in the retreat program is Mass at 11:45 am, Sacred Heart devotions, and lunch. Everything wraps up by 1:15 – which amounts to perhaps a slightly extended break from the office. Each retreat is also free, although donations are appreciated.

Should the dates and times for the First Friday on the Mount retreats not fit into the spiritually-hungry person’s schedule, he or she need not worry; the Mount St. Francis Center for Spirituality has a variety of other retreats organized well into the first half of 2010. One of them will surely be right for the spiritually-hungry person’s life.
