FrancisCorps Receives Prestigious Award from the US Local Business Association
The Washington, D.C.-based Local Business Association has awarded the 2008 Best of Syracuse Award to the Conventual Franciscan volunteer program FrancisCorps. The category was Social Services.
FrancisCorps is a part of the Franciscan Collaborative Ministries in Syracuse, New York. Its staff members include Brother Jim Moore (director), Sisters Marcia Barry and Ann Kenyon (co-ministers) as well as Maria T. Pallone who fills the role of administrative assistant at the program's main office.
Serving the community
FrancisCorps, of course, would not exist if it were not for its volunteers who, dedicating themselves in service to the Syracuse community as well as several locations in Costa Rica, exemplify the spirit of St.
Francis.
2008-2009 FrancisCorps volunteers
With this new feather in its cap and a dedicated group of volunteers for the 2008-2009 year, FrancisCorps will continue doing what it has been doing for ten years, which is to help young people to open their eyes to the world around them by spending 12 months living life the Franciscan way.
