Franciscan Friar Enters the Diaconate in Milwaukee

Two summers ago, Franciscan Friar Hans Flondor professed his Solemn Vows at the National Shrine of St. Maximilian Kolbe in Libertyville, Illinois. Through his Solemn Vows, a friar commits himself to live as a Franciscan for the rest of his life. He does this without anything of his own, in chastity, and obedience.
Friar Hans’ formation as a Franciscan has continued since his profession. Just last Saturday, in fact, the Archbishop of Milwaukee – the Most Reverend Jerome E. Listecki - ordained Friar Hans to the diaconate at Milwaukee’s Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist. The Franciscan Friars started celebrating this occasion the day before at the Basilica of St. Josaphat (also in Milwaukee) with holy hour vigil and a journey through the Stations of the Cross. Friar Michael Glastetter led the journey through the Stations and also spoke about vocations.
