Friar Jude Winkler Becomes Assistant General in the Order of Friars Minor Conventual

For the last three years, Conventual Franciscan Friar Jude Winkler’s daily audio reflections on Bible readings have appeared on www.franciscans.org. A talented preacher, Friar Jude has been talking about our faith at parishes, retreats, and seminaries around the world. He has also held a number of academic positions at a variety of schools including St. Bonaventure University near Olean, New York.

At the end of September 2010, Friar Jude Winkler’s life changed when he became Assistant General for the Conventual Franciscan Conference (CFC) in North America, Great Britain and Ireland. During a General Definitory meeting in Lódz, Poland, Friar Marco Tasca – Minister General of the Order of Friars Minor Conventual – and his Definitory elected Friar Jude to his new position of Assistant General. Although the position will require Friar Jude to relocate to Rome, his life of near constant travel will not change. Friar will spend a good part of his time visiting friars who belong to the CFC.  He will also continue to record his daily audio reflections to stimulate the faith of his many devoted online listeners.
