Friar Marco's Ordination

Friar Marco Umana is now a priest. He was ordained to the priesthood this month at the cathedral in Alajuela, Costa Rica by His Excellency Angel San Casimiro, the Bishop of Alajuela. More than 500 people attended the wonderful celebration. Fellow friars, friends, family members, as well as local diocesan priests and religious made up the large and very supportive group. Deeply emotional music provided by the local Franciscan Youth Group added a beautiful note to the occasion.

After the ordination, the friars from Alajuela hosted all the guests to a buffet luncheon at their friary. To accommodate everyone, two large tents were set up on the friars’ property under the shade of which stood tables and chairs. Guests then ate their delicious food in comfort while celebrating Friar Marco’s spiritual journey.
