Friar Matt Foley's Ordination to the Diaconate

On Saturday April 4, 2009, Bishop Mitchell Thomas Rozanski ordained Friar Matt Foley to the diaconate at the Shrine of St. Anthony in Ellicott City, Maryland.

Friar Matt recently finished his studies in theology at Washington Theological Union. Last summer he professed his solemn vows with the intention of eventually becoming a deacon and then priest.

To be a deacon means to live life according to the Gospel of Christ. As a deacon Friar Matt will continue serving others. He will also baptize and and officiate marriages as well as preach the Gospel. Find out more about Friar Matt's experience of his ordination on his blog.
