Having professed his Solemn Vows not even a week ago, Friar Reto Davatz has had some time to reflect on his life as a Conventual Franciscan friar. These reflections (which were recorded on video) are below.
In our first video reflection, Friar Reto recounts his vocation story. He speaks about how God has been his guide on the vocation journey of his life. When he was younger, people would periodically suggest to Friar Reto that he could be a religious. Not paying much heed to these comments, Friar Reto realized only later that God was indeed calling him to religious life; specifically He wanted Reto to be a Franciscan - an order of friars whose 800 year old charism is as powerful today as it was all those centuries ago.
In our second video reflection, Friar Reto talks about the prayerfulness and the support he felt during his recent Profession of Solemn Vows. He remembers that even as a postulant, he felt drawn to the Franciscans. This calling to Franciscan life has remained vigorous throughout the years; and it continues to excite Friar Reto as he lives the life that God has in mind for him.
