Good News About Vocations from Franciscans in Brazil

Luis Henrique

We share with you very happy news from Brazil. Two Franciscans in that country have recently taken important steps in their vocations. William Gomes professed his First Vows at the friars’ parish in Rio de Janeiro. He had spent the past year as a novice in Brazil’s Province of Sao Paolo. His Franciscan brother Luis Henrique has ended the Franciscan Order’s Postulancy Program in Rio de Janeiro and moved to Sao Paolo. In this city he will be invested with a Franciscan habit. He will also begin living as a novice with other friars.

William Gomes

William’s Profession of First Vows saw the man profess to his Minister Provincial that he will live in chastity, obedience and without anything of his own for a period of three years. During this time, William will also follow the Constitutions of his Order. Luis’ Investiture ceremony literally welcomes him into the Order. As a novice he will continue his vocation discernment with the Franciscans and learn more about St. Francis of Assisi and the Order that he founded.
