Florida Parish Will Not Forget That Haiti is Still in Need

Not long ago, St. Lucie Parish in Port St. Lucie, Florida with its pastor, Franciscan Friar Mark Szanyi, will hold a special collection for Haiti. The local Diocese of Palm Beach has urged parishes to hold this collection. Friar Mark reached out to his parishioners through the St. Lucie bulletin to let them know that the collection will indeed be happening.

As we support Japan in its current time of crisis it is important to remember that the people of Haiti still need our help. With last year’s earthquake, cholera outbreak and political instability, Haiti has a long way to go before the majority of its citizens can live calmer and more secure lives. By collecting funds for the country and reminding parishioners that the need is still there, St. Lucie Parish is showing that it is committed to continue helping the people of Haiti.
