Audience Enjoys Jazz Concert at Assumption Parish

in Syracuse, New York

The Jazzuists

Franciscan Collaborative Ministries (FCM) is a series of programs in the Northside of Syracuse, New York that aims to improve the lives of that neighborhood’s residents. Run by Franciscan sisters, friars, and lay people, FCM assists persons in need with food, shelter, and other necessities. It also provides spiritual care.

FCM’s other dimension is the Arts in Assisi program, which aims to bring to the Northside of Syracuse various cultural events. One such recent event was a concert by the “Jazzuists” – a vocal jazz group from Syracuse’s Le Moyne College – at Assumption Parish. The 12-person group played a number of jazz favorites to an appreciative audience. A reception afterwards celebrated the 40th anniversary of Glenn Armstrong as music director of Assumption Parish.
