Immaculate Conception and St. Anthony Provinces Come Together to Deliberate the Future

The Joint Assembly of Conventual Franciscan Friars
from eastern North America in Hunt Valley, Maryland
From June 23-26, 2008, Conventual Franciscan Friars from the two jurisdictions in eastern North America - St. Anthony of Padua and Immaculate Conception Provinces - met in Hunt Valley, Maryland to pray and discuss the need for change in their organization. The guiding thought behind all of the deliberations at this Joint Assembly was, "How can we better serve the Church in North America and our fraternity in the service of the Lord?"
The friars gathered in Maryland as a community. Their Joint Assembly was an opportunity to reconnect with brothers whom one had not seen in a long time. Naturally, the discussions about their future were the main focus of the Joint Assembly. But the simple act of gathering in one place and praying together had an enormous effect on the friars, infusing them with new, positive energy to face the future with optimism and a willingness to get things done.
A selection of photos and videos from the Joint Assembly follows. It highlights the already strong bonds of fraternity between the friars.
