Getting Ready for Social Ministry

St. John Vianney Parish, Lithia Springs, Georgia
Conventual Franciscan Friar Timothy Lyons works at St. John Vianney Parish in Lithia Springs, Georgia. He and the parish’s director of religious education Sharon Loiselle recently took part in a workshop where they were introduced to the Just Faith program.
We are all called to be disciples of Christ
The Just Faith program lasts 30 weeks. Through discussion, reading, prayer, and other activities it prepares students for work in social ministry. It also brings to students the idea that each one of us is a disciple of Jesus. When we enter the world, we must do our best to imitate Christ. This means helping our vulnerable brothers and sisters.

God calls on us to help the poor
After having attended the Just Faith workshop, Friar Timothy and Sharon Loiselle want to run the full 30 week program at St. John Vianney Parish with a small group of 10 to 15 people. Afterwards the newly trained persons will be able to prepare others for social ministry and also bring them closer to God.
