Franciscans Learn from Their Brothers’ Experiences

Friars from around the world meet in Rome

Earlier this month, Conventual Franciscan Ministers Provincial and Provincial Secretaries from around the world visited their Order’s General Curia in Rome. The Curia is directly connected to the Basilica of Holy Apostles. The purpose of the friars’ visit to the Curia was to meet with the Minister General of the Order – Friar Marco Tasca – and discuss with him a number of issues, including the various goings on in their own jurisdictions.

Friar Michael Lorentsen was one of the Franciscans who participated in the meetings at the General Curia. Last year his brothers elected him to the position of Provincial Secretary to Immaculate Conception Province in North America.

During his time in Rome, Friar Michael managed to visit the Vatican and the Franciscan friary located there. He also travelled to Padua for a meeting with the friars living in that city. St. Anthony – the famous Franciscan - is buried in Padua.

With around 25 Franciscans from around the world attending the meeting at the Curia, Friar Michael really had an opportunity to strengthen his relationship with friars from around the world and learn about their many interesting ministries.
