Baking Pies in Nassau, New York

St. Mary's of the Nativity Church, Nassau, NY
Last autumn, St. Mary’s of the Nativity Church in Nassau, New York held its Annual Pie Baking Party. At 9.30 in the morning on the day of the party, volunteer bakers gathered at the church and with the ingredients of flour, sugar, apples, and shortening created delicious pies. Generous parishioners had donated all of the just mentioned ingredients. The pies themselves were sold as Thanksgiving treats.
Nassau, New York is 16 or so miles southeast of Albany and only 15 miles from the Massachusetts border. St. Mary’s of the Nativity Church – which is run by the Conventual Franciscan Friars – has been part of the Nassau community since 1852. Its current pastor is Friar John T. Provost.
