On March 12, 2010, the current Minister General whose name is Friar Marco Tasca visited the St. Francis of Assisi Novitiate in Mishawaka, Indiana to spend time with the friars there. His visit lasted two days and included a conference with the novices, a meeting with Franciscan sisters from the area, as well as a tour of Notre Dame University.

This year the Conventual Franciscan Provinces in the United States are having their chapters. Friar Marco has been visiting all the provinces for these special occasions. During a provincial chapter the Minister General installs that province's Minister Provincial as well as its definitory. His presence at each province's chapter is therefore a requirement.

Before visiting the novitiate in Mishawaka, Friar Marco had been at the St. Bonaventure Province Chapter in Libertyville, Illinois. After Mishawaka, he traveled to Mount St. Francis, Indiana where he attended the Our Lady of Consolation Province Chapter. Friar Marco's yearly schedule is filled with a lot of visits to friars around the world. Maintaining a close, brotherly relationship with other friars requires personal contact more than anything else.
