Two Friars Become Priests at Brooklyn Parish

Friar Eric de la Peña

On Saturday, November 15 in parish of Most Holy Trinity - St. Mary in Brooklyn, NY, the Most Rev. William P. Callahan, OFM Conv., Auxiliary Bishop of Milwaukee, ordained Friar Eric de la Peña and Friar Justin Ross to priesthood in the presbyteral order.  With the minister provincials Fr. Justin Biase and Fr. Michael Kolodziej as principal concelebrants,  this liturgy was the first time that Bishop Callahan ordained two men to the priesthood.  During the ordination liturgy, Bishop Callahan remarked about the significance of ordaining two confreres in the Franciscan Order.  The ordination celebration included a significant number of friars, the postulants, religious men and women, diocesan priests, the parents of the newly ordained friars as well as their family and friends.  Friar Eric will continue to serve at Holy Family Parish in Albany, NY and Friar Justin will continue to serve in the guidance department at St. Francis High School in Athol Springs, NY.
