Five Men Profess Simple Vows in Brazil

Michel, Leonardo, Marcelos, Paulo, and Fabio
during their Professions of Simple Vows
Less than a week ago, the Conventual Franciscan Friars from Immaculate Conception Province in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil celebrated the Professions of Simple Vows of five of their brothers. The professions took place at the province’s church in Rio de Janeiro. The five professing friars – Michel, Leonardo, Marcelos, Paulo, and Fabio – are all very excited about entering this new chapter in their lives. Answering God’s call is an awesome and very satisfying experience.

Other friars excitedly celebrated Michel's. Leonardo's, Marcelos',
Paulo's and Fabio's recent professions
As has been pointed out in other stories on this website, when a friar professes his Simple Vows he chooses to follow the Rule of St. Francis (as it was approved by Pope Honorius III) as well as the Constitution of the Order of Friars Minor Conventual for a time of one or three years. During this time he remains in chastity and with nothing of his own.

Next the five newly professed friars are set to continue their initial formation program with Friar Donil who recently took on the position of post-novitiate director for Immaculate Conception Province’s custody in Brazil.
In that country fifteen other men are at various stages in their vocation discernment to the Order of Friars Minor Conventual. One is a novice, seven are postulants and another seven are aspirants. These men feel God gently directing them to the Conventual Franciscan Friars.
