Franciscans Walk for the Vulnerable

The Conventual Franciscan participants of the Washington, D.C. walkathon
Many of us see Washington, D.C. only as a center of political power and influence. The nation’s capital however also has a large population of struggling, vulnerable people. Almost a week ago, residents and visitors at the Conventual Franciscan St. Bonaventure Friary in Forestville, Maryland took the opportunity to raise some money for Washington’s vulnerable people when they participated in a 5 kilometer walkathon. The money the friars, vocation prospects, and postulants raised through their walk will specifically aid the Gabriel Network.

The Gabriel Network is a pro-life institution. It supports pregnant women who might otherwise have no supportive persons to turn to. At the network, these women can find social services for themselves and compassionate people who will maintain their health as well as that of their babies.
