Summer Arts Festival at a Conventual Franciscan Parish in Reno, Nevada invites all Members of the Community

St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral in Reno, Nevada

At the St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral in Reno, Nevada, the Conventual Franciscans who run the parish along with their lay co-workers are preparing for their annual Summer Arts Festival. This year’s event will be held from July 25-26. It will include performances from local groups – both amateur and professional. Parishioners are also invited to make use of their talents and participate in the festival. Plenty of children’s games will keep the youngest attendees at the festival laughing with delight.

The Summer Arts Festival is for the entire community

All interested artists of whatever oeuvre have until June 1st to get in touch with María del Rocío Dodson.

Reno is surrounded by natural splendor

An event such as the Summer Arts Festival at St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral highlights the Franciscan emphasis on community. The festival is not intended only for parishioners but for the community as a whole. Everyone is welcome because the Church is for everybody. The Franciscans reflect this sense of inclusiveness in their order. They come from different backgrounds. Some have affluent families; others had to struggle. Franciscans also represent the richness of our planet’s various cultures. Poles, Germans, Americans, Filipinos, Ghanaians, and many others belong to the Franciscan family. And together they are brothers, each one of them unique, but also equal to the rest.
