Friar Reto Leaves Costa Rica

Friar Reto's good-bye party in Costa Rica

Last month, Friar Reto Davatz finished his apostolic year in Costa Rica. Originally from Canada, Reto is a simply professed friar who will be professing his Solemn Vows on August 15th at the Franciscan Church of St. Bonaventure in Toronto, Ontario.

The last 12 months, Friar Reto spent working at St. Francis College in Moravia. He lived with other friars at the Convento St. Francis where he continued to improve his Spanish.

A large group of friars and laypeople attended Friar Reto’s farewell celebration – including the FrancisCorps volunteers working in Costa Rica as well as Friars Justin and Raymond from the United States.

With his Solemn Profession coming up later this summer, Reto will soon once again be celebrating his life as a Franciscan Friar; his brothers in the order as well as family and friends will celebrate as well, honoring the fact that Reto has devoted his life to serving God.
