Friar Graduates from San Antonio's Oblate School of Theology

Friar Reto Davatz at his graduation from the Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio, Texas
Friar Reto Davatz finished another chapter in his life when he graduated from the Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio, Texas with a degree in theology and ministry. Friar Reto, a native of Montréal, Québec was ordained a deacon last year and has lived at the Franciscan Friary in San Antonio for several years while preparing for ordained ministry in the Church. Some of our readers will recall that Friar Reto, who has suffered from kidney disease, received a kidney from another friar last year.
A day after his graduation, Friar Reto’s Franciscan brothers held a party in his honour. The party marked Reto’s departure from Texas. Friar Reto’s first assignment takes him to St. Raphael’s Parish in Burlington, Ontario where the friars have served for many years. God willing, in October of this year, Friar Reto will be ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Doug Crosby at St. Raphael’s.
