A Conventual Franciscan Parish Helps to Raise Funds for a Good Cause

The audience at the Rubber Duck Race fundraiser
(St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Bridgeport, New York)
Not long ago, the staff at the Bridgeport Food Pantry in Bridgeport, New York needed more support to continue serving the escalating needs of its community. With the severe downturn in the economy, many individuals in Bridgeport and its environs were having a difficult time making ends meet. The Bridgeport Food Pantry could not let them down. And in its time of need it looked to the Conventual Franciscan St. Francis of Assisi Parish and the Bridgeport Methodist Church.

The former of these parishes with Friar Raynald Yudin as pastor decided to host a Rubber Duck Race fundraiser. All monies raised at the Rubber Duck Race would be destined to help the Bridgeport Food Pantry in its mission.

One of the reasons why St. Francis of Assisi Parish was such an ideal location for the race was because the Chittenango Creek runs right along its property. When the race did happen, it was a great success for everyone. It involved a lot of laughter, fabulous sunshine, and the raising of a notable sum of money that will help the less fortunate brothers and sisters in the community.
