An Annual Festival at an OFM Conv. Parish in Terre Haute, Indiana

St. Benedict Parish, Terre Haute, Indiana
We are now firmly in the autumn season. The temperatures have cooled and leaves have turned. In just about two months, winter will be here. At the Conventual Franciscan St. Benedict Parish in Terre Haute, Indiana the community will be able to reminisce about the wonderful St. Benedict Community Festival that it organized in the summer months as it prepares for the joy of Christmas.

The St. Benedict Community Festival is popular with young people
Keith Moenter is the chairperson of the St. Benedict Community Festival. As an integral part of the group effort to put together the annual festival (next year’s is set for July 9 and 10), Keith and the countless other people who helped make it happen embody the Franciscan spirit of service to others.

The yearly festival is of course also about fun and fellowship. Parents and children, brothers and sisters as well as friends come out to the festival to experience the joy of togetherness. At the festival they can try their luck at a number of game booths, eat great food, take part in a raffle, and become volunteers in a variety of ministries. And these are just a few of the many activities the St. Benedict Community Festival offers.

One might wonder however if there is a connection between faith and the St. Benedict Community Festival. The answer to that is yes. Faith is not something that we practice only at Sunday Mass. Our faith is who we are and how we live. It manifests itself in our interactions with people; plus having fun once in a while is very good for one’s health too.
