Franciscans Hold Fundraiser for the Needy in Syracuse, New York

Entertainment at the St. Patrick and St. Joseph Fundraiser in Syracuse, New York

Franciscan Sisters Dolly and James Peter as well as Franciscan Friar Nick Spano recently arranged a fundraiser for the Feast Days of St. Patrick and St. Joseph, which was held at St. Clare Gardens in Syracuse, New York – right next to that city’s beautiful Assumption Parish. Money raised during the fundraiser will be used for various projects to support the impoverished people of Syracuse. The Franciscan friars and sisters in Syracuse understand the difficult circumstances in which many people in that city find themselves. They along with many lay volunteers run Franciscan Collaborative Ministries (FCM) - a series of projects that assist the people of Syracuse's economically depressed Northside neighborhood. Through the FCM, people in need can visit a doctor, get legal advice, receive food, and participate in many other ministries.

The St. Patrick and St. Joseph Fundraiser that the Franciscans put on was a great success. More than 200 guests participated in the event where they tasted various Italian and Irish dishes and took in some Irish step-dancing as well as accordion playing. Sounds of delight and fraternity filled the air.
