Pismo Beach Parish Does its Part to Take Care of Retired Religious

Conventual Franciscan friars
St. Paul the Apostle Parish in Pismo Beach, California had a second collection one recent Sunday. The funds donated by generous parishioners will be used in support of retired religious.
In recent decades large numbers of sisters, brothers, and nuns have retired from their ministries. Many of these brothers, sisters, and nuns require specialized healthcare. Having spent their lives serving our spiritual needs, these men and women need our help so that they can live in peace and dignity. Catholic Bishops in the United States are therefore asking churches across the country to give what they can to support these retired religious.
St. Paul the Apostle Parish’s community includes a number of Conventual Franciscan friars; these men are pastor Victor Abegg, associate pastor Alphonse Van Guilder, Peter Parchem who is pastor emertitus, and Robert Ouellette, the pastoral assistant. Each of these men is in one way or another engaged with the parishioners in St. Paul. He does what he can to help them move closer to the Lord.
