A Walk Through the Centuries

Most Holy Trinity Parish in Brooklyn, New York in 1916

At the beginning of this year, Most Holy Trinity Parish in Brooklyn, New York participated in New York City’s Walking Tours program. Most Holy Trinity has been a landmark in Brooklyn since the middle of the 19th century. The parish tour allowed parishioners and visitors alike to gain a historic perspective of the community. One also could not help but think about how the parish has helped to maintain the faith lives of countless people in the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries.

Father John Stephen Raffeiner, V.F. - Most Holy Trinity's founder and first pastor (1841-1861)

Franciscan friar Timothy Dore was one of the guides on the parish tour. The friars have been staffing Most Holy Trinity for many years now. Participants who took the tour of Most Holy Trinity visited the parish’ many nooks and crannies, going all the way up into the towers as well as down to the crypt and rectory basement. During the tours they picked up important information on the architecture of the church building as well as stories about the German and Irish heritage of the parish and the congregation that calls it home today.
