Young Woman at Conventual Franciscan Parish

is Living a Life of Service

Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Taunton, Massachusetts

At Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Taunton, Massachusetts, parishioners try to get involved in shaping their community for the better. Conventual Franciscan friar and pastor of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, Friar David M. Stopyra recently highlighted the sense of service and commitment of one of his parishioners, Lauren Dykas. At 15 years of age, Lauren works as a faith formation teacher at Our Lady of Holy Rosary with first and second graders. She prepares these children for first Communion; in her teaching she conveys to her pupils the importance of the Holy Eucharist and Mass.

Lauren’s life of service is not something recent. Already in second grade, Ms. Dykas took on the ministry of altar server at Our Lady of Holy Rosary. Several years later, she became a lector. Currently, Lauren also offers Communion on Saturdays besides working as a faith formation teacher. One needs to point out that this autumn she will begin her junior year at a Taunton high school where on top of her academic responsibilities she plans on continuing her work with the Christian Life Ministries.
