Numbers of Youth Devoted to Their Faith Grow

Faith matters to many young people today

Raymond Mallett, Conventual Franciscan friar and pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Hermosa Beach, California recently confirmed that his parish’s youth program is continuing to grow. Young people care deeply about their faith and want to develop their relationships with God.

Big Bear Lake, California

Our Lady of Guadalupe’s young people recently demonstrated their commitment to the Church when 54 of them participated in a parish organized leadership training weekend this summer at Big Bear Lake, a mountainous area in San Bernardino National Forest. Surrounded by spectacular vistas, the young attendees imbibed the beauty of God’s creation while participating in activities that honed their leadership skills. Friar Raymond has pointed out that these young people “are the future leaders within our Church.” With a sense of community and faith, they will work on moving closer to God and helping others see that God is active in their lives.
