A Good Approach to Life
Mount Holy Trinity Church in Brooklyn, New York
Mount Holy Trinity Church, a Conventual Franciscan parish in Brooklyn, New York has been serving the people of Brooklyn for more than 160 years. With so much historical wisdom and eight centuries of Franciscan spirituality forming the fabric of the church community, one can learn a lot about living a healthy, happy and spiritual life.
Cheerfulness
Here are some suggestions for just this sort of life as reported by Mount Holy Trinity:
1. Do not cling to bitterness, hate, and jealousy. These emotions leave deep lines on your face and shield you from the joy in the world.
2. Live each day to the fullest. This is a cliché; however, life consists of individual days. If we let them meld into one another through whatever routine then we might realize that we have not lived the way we had really wanted to.
3. The approach to each day is also very important. Fun, prayer, kindness, and cheerfulness should all be included. A sense of adventure helps too. One never knows what’s around corner or down the road.
4. Lastly, we live our faith through love. Shower love upon the world in the way of Francis who imitated the Lord. With love you can never go wrong.
Prayer
During times of frustration and anger, love likely never enters our emotional vocabulary. Both negative emotions are completely legitimate; to think that we can somehow dispose of them is unrealistic. The crux of the issue lies in how we handle them. Our anger, frustration or any other powerful and negative emotion cannot continue endlessly. It must be resolved through the strength of love. We must allow love to whittle the negativity away.
